Best Cryptocurrency Trading Apps in 2026: 8 Apps Compared
Last Updated: September 15, 2026
The best cryptocurrency trading apps pair deep markets with low in-app costs and strong account security. As of September 15, 2026, Coinbase had 4.7 stars from 1.8 million App Store ratings, Bybit's app offered 860 perpetual pairs at 0.02% maker, and Kraken's in-app Perps charged 0.25% per side against 0.02% on Kraken Futures.
Phones are where many traders now open and close positions, and app stores show millions of ratings for the largest names. Those numbers say how many people use an app and how satisfied they are, not what a trade costs or whether the account is well protected. The same company can also run several apps with very different pricing, or offer a simplified product inside its main app that costs many times more than its professional venue. Custody differs as well: exchange apps hold your coins, while self-custody shifts that risk to you, as our custodial vs non-custodial wallets explainer shows. This comparison covers eight trading apps by markets, in-app costs, store ratings and documented drawbacks, then explains how to read ratings, where derivatives fit on mobile and which security controls to check before you deposit. Before trading on a phone, learn the main crypto order types so a typo in size or price does not become a costly fill; for the order book and settlement behind EVEDEX, see how the EVEDEX perp DEX works.

What App Store Ratings Tell You and What They Miss
A rating is an average of user satisfaction, and its weight depends on the number of votes. Coinbase's 4.7 comes from about 1.8 million App Store ratings and Cash App's 4.8 from 8.7 million, so single complaints barely move them. Kraken Pro's 4.7 rests on about 26,000 ratings, enough to be meaningful but more sensitive to a bad update. Hyperliquid had an official Android app with more than 10,000 downloads and no rating shown on September 15, 2026, which says nothing yet about quality.
Ratings also differ between stores for the same company. OKX scored 4.6 on the App Store but 4.1 on Google Play, and Binance.US scored 4.2 and 3.4. When the gap is large, read recent reviews on the lower-rated store: they often point to specific problems such as login issues, withdrawal delays or verification loops. What ratings never show is cost. An app can be pleasant to use and still charge 1% for a trade that costs 0.02% elsewhere.
Derivatives on Mobile: Same Brand, Different Prices
Several companies now put futures inside their apps, and the product you tap on may not be their cheapest venue. Kraken shows this clearly. Its main app offers a Perps product at 0.25% to open and 0.25% to close in certain regions, while Kraken Futures charges 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. On a $5,000 position, that is $25 in total through in-app Perps against $5 on Kraken Futures as a taker. Coinbase lists perpetual futures in Coinbase Advanced at promotional rates of 0.00% maker and 0.03% taker, with leverage of up to 10x, according to its developer documentation.
Dedicated derivatives apps take a different route. Bybit, OKX and Binance put hundreds of perpetual pairs in their main trading apps at base maker fees of 0.02%, and EVEDEX lists 52 perpetual pairs at 0.015% maker, including stocks and forex. Security Controls to Check Before You Deposit
Mobile accounts face their own risks: lost phones, SIM swaps and fake apps that copy real brands. These controls address them.
- Avoid SMS as your only second factor Coinbase sets text messages as its default 2FA method but calls them the least secure option, and it rates two security keys as the highest-security setup.
- Separate protection for sign-in, trading and funding Kraken lets you set two-factor authentication separately for each action and recommends passkeys over other methods.
- Delay new withdrawal addresses Coinbase's allowlist makes a new address usable only after 48 hours, and Kraken asks you to confirm new withdrawal addresses through an email link that expires after one hour.
- Lock account settings Kraken's Global Settings Lock blocks new withdrawal addresses and 2FA changes; unlocking it without a master key takes at least 24 hours and can take up to 30 days.
- Install only from official listings Check the developer name on the store page, and compare the rating count with the figures above before signing in.
For assets you do not trade often, a self-custody wallet removes exchange risk; our explainer on custodial vs non-custodial wallets covers the trade-offs.
How to Choose a Crypto Trading App
- Legal availability Each app restricts some countries; check the terms for yours.
- Product fit Spot buyers need an order book or low simple-trade costs; futures traders need perpetual pairs, stop orders and a clear margin view.
- Real cost per trade Compare the in-app price with the company's professional venue, as the Kraken Perps example shows.
- Rating weight Prefer ratings backed by tens of thousands of votes on both stores.
- Security settings Passkeys, allowlists and settings locks should be available before you fund the account.
EVEDEX for Mobile Traders
EVEDEX is a hybrid perpetual futures exchange: orders are matched off-chain and settled on-chain on Arbitrum L2, with margin in USDT. It lists 52 perpetual pairs, including BTC, ETH, SOL, TSLA, COIN, Tether Gold, silver, WTI oil, EUR/USD and USD/JPY, traded 24/7. Fees are 0.015% maker and 0.045% taker, cashback of up to 35% applies to your own trades, and funding is calculated every 8 hours and charged hourly. Leverage reaches 200x on BTC-USD, ETH-USD and SOL-USD for positions up to $50,000 notional. Two product limits matter for traders on the move: Funded Trading is available only on the web and has no API, and P2P and Copy Trading are not launched. There is no spot market and only cross margin. To see how the order book and settlement work, read how the EVEDEX perp DEX works. Perpetual futures carry a high risk of loss.
