How P2P Bitcoin Exchange Works

A peer-to-peer bitcoin exchange enables direct trading between individuals without a centralized order book. The platform runs the offer board, escrow and dispute resolution, while the two traders agree on price and payment terms. EVEDEX P2P is not live yet, so none of these steps run on EVEDEX today.

1

Direct Peer Matching

Sellers post offers with a price, limits and accepted payment methods. Buyers pick an offer that suits them or post their own.

2

Escrow Protection

On a typical P2P venue, the seller's bitcoin is locked in escrow during the trade and released only after the seller confirms the payment arrived.

3

Multi-Signature Security

Non-custodial P2P venues lock funds in multisig escrow, which needs more than one signature before any bitcoin moves.

4

Global Payment Methods

P2P markets typically let two traders agree on local payment options. EVEDEX P2P is not live yet; join the waitlist for launch news.

What a P2P Marketplace Needs

1

Reputation System

Feedback scores and completed-trade counts help buyers and sellers judge a counterparty before any funds are locked.

2

Real-Time Communication

In-trade chat lets both sides share payment details and proof of transfer, and the log serves as evidence if a dispute is opened.

3

Automated Releases

On most venues the seller releases escrow after confirming payment; some automate the release once the escrow conditions are met.

Frequently Asked Questions

A P2P Bitcoin exchange is a platform that connects individual buyers and sellers directly, without a centralized order book. The platform provides escrow and dispute resolution, while users negotiate prices and payment methods peer-to-peer. This model offers greater privacy and access to diverse local payment options. EVEDEX P2P has not launched yet and only runs a waitlist.

When a trade begins, the seller's Bitcoin is locked in a secure escrow wallet controlled by smart contracts. The buyer sends payment through their chosen method, then marks it complete. Once the seller confirms receipt of payment, the Bitcoin automatically releases from escrow to the buyer's wallet, ensuring neither party can be defrauded.

EVEDEX P2P has not launched yet, and its page runs a waitlist, so no P2P payment methods are live. Today you fund an EVEDEX account with USDT from a wallet or another exchange, or buy USDT with a card through an external provider in the deposit window.

P2P exchanges offer different security trade-offs. You avoid the risk of exchange hacks since funds aren't pooled on centralized servers, but you assume counterparty risk with individual traders. Live P2P venues reduce that risk with escrow, reputation scores and dispute resolution; EVEDEX P2P has not launched, so it offers none of these yet.

If a trade dispute occurs, either party can usually open a dispute with the venue. Its arbitrators review payment proofs, chat logs and blockchain records, then release the escrowed bitcoin to the party the evidence supports. EVEDEX has no P2P dispute process, because its P2P product has not launched.
